Pachanga in the Park returns for the 12th year next weekend.
The annual event held by the City of Port Isabel originally was hosted in Washington Park, according to Valerie Bates, the City of Port Isabel’s marketing director. She says that it quickly outgrew the space, until they were “bursting at the seams.” Now, Pachanga in the Park takes place at Laguna Madre Park, off Highway 11, on Port Road.
Bates describes it as a “community-centered event.” Anyone is welcome to attend.
The gates open on Saturday, Sept. 30, 3 p.m. and at 6 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 1.
This year, parking will be $10 on Saturday, after 5 p.m. There will be free parking all day Sunday.
“We didn’t want to charge admission,” said Bates. “There is a lot of overhead for this event. It’s a way to recoup a little bit of that to help out with planning next year’s event.”
Live music slated for the party includes DJ Wero, Ambizzion, Siggno, Infusion and Solido.
