Now open in Texas is the 250-room Margaritaville Beach Resort South Padre Island, the latest from the hospitality company that got its start from singer Jimmy Buffett’s signature song.
Decorated in a breezy beach motif with turquoise and wood accents, the rooms, many of which have balconies, provide views of either the ocean or the resort. The property also offers one- to three-bedroom condos with full kitchens.
The 8,000 square feet of meeting space includes the 3,460-square-foot Sand Dunes ballroom, and the smaller Blue Marlin ballroom, with views of the beaches and the Gulf of Mexico. The executive boardroom seats 15.
Aside from beach access, resort amenities include an outdoor pool and a fitness center. The St. Somewhere Spa menu features a variety of treatments.
Two restaurants serve the property. LandShark Bar & Grill’s offerings are reminiscent of Buffett’s Cheeseburger in Paradise eateries that once dotted the U.S. landscape. On the menu are burgers, fish sandwiches, Tex-Mex tacos, and an array of salads and just-caught seafood. Grab-and-go coffee, sandwiches and more are available at Joe Merchant’s Coffee & Provisions, and the swim-up Salty Rim Bar & Grill mixes up cocktails and more at its lounge area and a shady bar by the pool.
