Ordinance – Regulation of Garage Sales.
At the December 13 regular meeting, the Town Council approved the first reading of an ordinance regulating garage sales within the Town limits. The Town currently does not have such an ordinance. In this ordinance, to have a garage permit, the property owner will need to secure a permit from the Town; only 4 per will be allowed; and, only tangible personal property or used or unwanted household items will be permitted to be sold.
The second reading of this ordinance will be at the January 10 Town Council meeting.
Roloff Park Improvements
At the December 13 meeting, the Town Council adopted the final layout of the proposed improvements to Roloff Park. It will include the resurfacing of the parking lot, the construction of a new jogging/walking trail, a large and small pavilion, new playground equipment, the installation of a irrigation system; improvements to restrooms; landscaping, etc.
The Parks Board held several meetings and made numerous revisions to the layout to include the improvements they wanted the Town Council to consider.
At the same meeting, the Town Council hired GMS Architects to prepare and design these park improvements. It is anticipated that the Town will be seeking sealed bids during the month of January, awarding the bid in February, and commencement of these park improvements in March.
These park improvements are being funded with the 2011 CO Bonds Issuance.
Walking and Jogging Trail
The contract to build the jogging/walking trail was awarded by the Town Council to Southern Landscapes at the December 13 meeting. This trail will be built at the Town-owned 15 acres. It will include bird blinds, a composed granite trail, a bike rack, tables, and benches.
This is a project that includes a $100,000 grant from Texas Parks and Wildlife Department with $25,000 matching funds from the Community Development Corporation (CDC).
