A former local, Jason Norwood, says he’s back on the Island to establish himself and couldn’t think of a better place to call home for him and raise his son.
Originally from the Dallas area, Norwood says he’s been back for a year as he chooses to teach foil boarding lessons and care for his son.
He says the moment leading up to the business for him was a need in the community for rides to the airport. “I started offering airport rides to other kiteboarders and one of them mentioned the shuttle that used to operate out of VIA was no longer in business and how expensive taxis are.”
Enjoying speaking with travelers, Norwood saw starting his business as an opportunity. “I’ve been thinking of owning my own business again. I enjoy talking to people who come here, so I reached out to VIA, and they confirmed there was a need for another shuttle service, so I decided to go for it. That’s how SPI Surf Shuttle was born.”
Norwood says he hopes to “be part of the positive experiences visitors have when they come down here.”
