Citizens from the Lower Laguna Madre and across the Rio Grande Valley are invited to participate in the Second Annual CASA Golf Tournament.
Proceeds from this event will directly benefit Court Appointed Special Advocates [CASA].
This is the second year in a row that this tournament will be taking place. In last year’s CASA house newsletter, Dawn Lewis stated “Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) of Cameron and Willacy Counties serves as a voice to place abused and neglected children in safe and permanent homes. Trained volunteers work to ensure each abused and neglected child has a voice.”
According to Lewis, CASA was formed in 1977. Lewis stated that volunteers, after undergoing extensive training, would handle one case at a time, to ensure that it received adequate attention and care, as well as to provide hope to needing children. The goal is to put each child on the path to safety and happiness, and to guide them along the way.
This year’s tournament will be held on Saturday, April 29, starting at 9 a.m. at the Long Island Village Golf Course. The Tee-off will commence at 10 a.m.
Those interested in participating in the charity event benefiting the non-profit organization can text “team info” to (956) 550-5648. Those with questions can text Lewis at (720) 376-8507.
There will be a four-man scramble, cash prizes for first second and third place, as well a Big John charter up for grabs and a 50/50 drawing and raffle prizes.
