When we first came to the Valley, you could still ride what was called The Chicken Train in Matamoros, and I often did — a slow car that stopped at just about every hamlet on hte way to Reynosa, it was used by people bringing things to the Big City to sell; there were women with impossible loads of fruit, guys with baskets, hammocks, people with live chickens tied by their feet, many of them accompanied by children for whom thetrain was an impossible thing. It was an experience to take the rideand of course, enjoy a train ride, something I have thought magical since I was a little kid. I don’t know about Oklahoma City, but a tourist train that ran up and down the Valley, done with the right kind of flair, would bewonderful! pat
