We love when our Winter Texans are here. They fun, plan lots of events, and they boost our economy. A recent publication from the City of South Padre Island said:
“The Finance Department received notice that February sales tax collected in April increased by $19,837.03 or 14.47%25; compared to the same period last fiscal year ($156,927.37 collected in 2013/ $137,090.34 collected in 2012). The total sales tax collections for the current fiscal year is $900,298.88 (75%25; allocated to the General Fund and 25%25; to EDC), which also represents an increase of $56,510.20 or 6.70%25; compared to last fiscal year.”
