Saturday, Feb. 9, South Padre Island Convention Center is the Winter Outdoor Wildlife Expo. Doors open at 8:00 am with opening presentations beginning at 8:30 am. Jonathon Wood’s Live Raptor Show featured, followed by a day of more than 20 seminars about the natural wonders of the Laguna Madre and South Texas including: fly fishing, bay fishing, surf fishing, kayak fishing, local and worldwide birding, pelicans, dolphins, turtles, native plants, butterflies, shelling and more.
Admission is $3. Group discounts are available. Free coffee. Refreshment stand items available. New Bucket Raffle will have items valued at $300 or more. The traditional Silent Auction featuring donated items is open all day for bids.
Exhibits by non-profit environmental and wildlife organizations and vendors featuring local businesses, activities and artists, plus a special are of games of skill for children. Proceeds, after expenses, will be donated to the Boys and Girls Club of the Laguna Madre.
